LYRICS FROM THE CD "HaMoRobyn...just in case"

1. BOKER TOV BLUES
(by Robyn Hendricks)
I woke up in the “boker”,
Opened my “ay-nayim”,
Jumped out of my “mita”
And I washed my “ya-dai-im”
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah
I got the Boker Tov Blues....
It’s time to get dressed
(waaaaa,waaaaa,waaaaaa,waaaaaaa)
A.J.C.C. for me!

2. THIS SHABBAT LIGHT OF MINE
(traditional)
CHORUS:
This Shabbat light of mine
I’m gonna let it shine(3X)
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
I’m gonna take this little light ‘round the world,
I’m gonna let it shine(3X)
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
CHORUS
I won’t let anyone (“whew”) it out,
I’m gonna let it shine(3X)
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
CHORUS

3. ALEF BET
(by Debbie Friedman)
Let’s learn the alef-bet,
Simple as it can be.
You’ll learn the alef-bet,
If you sing each letter after me.
Each letter has a name,
And a sound that it always makes.
Now we’ll sing the chorus,
We’ll have fun it will not bore us,
It’s the alef-bet. (me first)
CHORUS:
Alef, Bet, Vet, Gimel, Dalet, Hey,
Vav, Zion, Chet, Tet, Yud, Kaf, Haf,
Lamed, Mem, Nun, Samech, Ayin, Pay, Fay,
Tzadik, Kuf, Raysh, Shin, Sin, Tav
Let’s sing it once again,
Practice the alef bet,
Each time you sing this song,
The easier the letters get.
You sing it first this time,
Sing out loud, let me hear your voice.
I will hear you getting better
As you sing each hebrew letter,
It’s the alef-bet
CHORUS

4. RAINBOW BLESSING
(by Debbie Friedman)
What’s in a rainbow
That makes it so magical,
Linking the present ,
To promises of old.
Eyes seeking colors,
Hearts stretching far beyond the heavens,
Dreams not forgotten,
Memories unfold.
Where there’s a rainbow
We thank the holy one,
Thinking of promises made long ago.
So when we thank you,
And sing of your miracles,
We know that the rainbow
Is a promise we make, too.
Baruch ata Adonai eloheinu melech ha’olam
Zocheir habrit v’ne’emar biv’rito
V’kayam b’ma’amaro.

5. NOT BY MIGHT
(by Debbie Friedman)
Not by might, & not by power,
But by spirit alone (“ruach!”)
Shall we all live in peace.(2X)
The children sing, the children dream,
And their tears will fall,
But we’ll hear them call,
And another song will rise (“will what?) (3X)
Not by might, not by power, shalom!

6. BIM,BOM/SHABBAT SHALOM
(folk melody)
I. Bim, bom, bim, bim, bim bom,
Bim, bim, bim, bim, bim bom (2X)
II. Shabbat shalom,(hey!) shabbat shalom,(hey!)
Shabbat, shabbat, shabbat,shabbat shalom(2X)
III. Shabbat, shabbat, shabbat shabbat shalom(2X)
(repeat II, then I)

7. GONNA BUILD ME AN ARK
(by Lisa Litman)
Gonna build me an ark,
Make it tall and wide,
Put a window in the top,
And a door on the side. (2X)
When God said Noah,
I’m gonna make it rain.(2X)
Then the animals came,
Walking side by side,
Coming two by two,
Going right inside.(2X)
When God said Noah,
I’m gonna make it rain.(2X)
When the rain was done,
And the land was dry,
God gave us a sign
He put a rainbow in the sky.(2X)
When God said Noah,
I’m gonna make it rain.(3X)

8. FIVE LITTLE WOODEN DRIEDELS
(by Robyn Hendricks)
Five little wooden driedles
Sat on a giant ladle,
Eating some most delicious soup.
Yum! Yum!
One driedel took a fall,
Into a matzo ball,
Then there were 4 little wooden driedles.
(Then 3, 2, 1, .....)
Then there were no little wooden driedles.

9. AFIKOMEN MAMBO
(by Rabbi Joe Black)
CHORUS:
I’m gonna find it, I’m gonna find it,
I’m gonna find it, I’m gonna find,
Gonna find the afikomen.(2X)
Every year at Pesach time,
We eat the matzah, we drink the wine.
We ask four questions one by one,
But before the seder’s done...
CHORUS
We eat charoset and dip karpas,
We tell the story of the exodus.
The bitter herbs,
They make my eyes go crossed,
But when I find the afikomen,
I’m the boss, ‘cause...
CHORUS
Now you can hide it in a table,
Hide it in a box,
Underneath the stairway,
Or inside the kitchen clock.
You can put it in your pocket,
Put it under the TV,
But you can’t hide the afikomen from me,
‘Cause everyone one knows,
The seder’s not done,
Before we find the afikomen.
When I find it I’ll articulate,
The terms on which I will negotiate, ‘cause...
CHORUS

10. THANK YOU, GOD
(Doug Cotler)
CHORUS:
Baruch ata Adonai, Thank you God.
Thank you for the candles,
Thank you for the wine,
Thank you for the challah
That always tastes so fine.
CHORUS
We thank you for our mommies,
Thank you for our dads,
They love us when we’re happy,
They love us when we’re sad.
CHORUS
Thank you for my friends,
Thank you for my toys,
Thank you God for watching over
All the girls and boys
CHORUS

11. SOUFGANIOT
(Rabbi Joe Black)
CHOURUS:
Soufganiot, soufganiot,
Oh how I love those soufganiot. (2X)
Go into the kitchen, heat up the oil,
Wait until it’s ready to boil.
Roll up the dough, put the jelly in the middle,
Drop ‘em in the pot, and listen to ‘em sizzle.
CHORUS
Some like ‘em hot, some like ‘em cold,
Nobody likes ‘em when they get to old.
Raspberry, strawberry, chocolate, too,
Those soufganiot are so good for you.
CHORUS
Love ‘em with my breakfast,
Love ‘em with my lunch,
Dinner time, snack time, I gobble up a bunch.
Only trouble is, if I eat too many,
My tummy starts to hurt,
And I feel real funny.
CHORUS

12. EVERYBODY’S GOT A LITTLE MUSIC
(Rabbi Joe Black)
Everybody’s got a little music in ‘em,
Music in ‘em, music in ‘em,
Everybody’s got a little music in ‘em
I can hear it when you sing
(La, la, la.......)
Everybody’s got a little rhythm in ‘em,
rhythm in ‘em, rhythm in ‘em,
Everybody’s got a little rhythm in ‘em
I can hear it when you clap your hands
(La, la, la/clap, clap/clap......)
Everybody’s got a little jumpin’ bean in ‘em,
Jumpin’ bean in ‘em, jumpin bean in ‘em,
Everybody’s got a little jumpin’ bean in ‘em
I can see it when you wiggle around.
(wiggle, wiggle, wiggle.......)
Everybody’s got a little friendship in ‘em,
Friendship in ‘em, friendship in ‘em,
Everybody’s got a little friendship in ‘em
I can see it when you smile.
(La, la, la.......)
Everybody’s got a little bit of God in ‘em,
Bit of God in ‘em, bit of God in ‘em,
Everybody’s got a little bit of God in ‘em
I can see it all the time.
And I can hear it when you sing,
And when you clap your hands,
I can see it when you smile,
And reach out for a friend......ooohhhh......
Everybody’s got a little music in ‘em,
Music in ‘em, music in ‘em,
Everybody’s got a little music in ‘em
I can hear it when you sing
(La, la, la.......)

13. IT’S CHANUKAH TIME
(Julie Silver)
I’m with my father,
And we’re making latkes,
With big brown potatoes,
They’re gonna taste fine.
I see my mother, near our chanukiah,
She’s looking so happy, it’s Chanukah time.
CHORUS:
And I remember every December
We tell the tale we know so well,
And all the family gathers happily.
I wish Chanukah was mine all year.
Spinning the dreidels,
around golden chocolate,
Opening presents, we give and receive.
This celebration of miracles tell us,
No matter how hopeless it seems,
We must always believe.
CHORUS
You light the shamas,
And I’ll sing the blessings,
Glowing like candles, eight nights a year
CHORUS

14. ESTHER’S SONG
(Robyn Hendricks)
King Achasverus and Queen Vashti
Couldn’t get along, could not agree,
So she packed her bags,
And she went on her way,
She just couldn’t stay another day.
CHORUS:
Esther, Queen Esther,
We love you Queen Esther,
Because you are so brave,
We have this holiday,
That we call Purim.
The King didn’t like being all alone,
Next to him was an empty throne.
He’d hold a pageant, to find himself a girl,
The most beautiful girl in all the world.
CHORUS
A kind old man named Mordechai
Told his sweet niece Esther,
“I think that you should try
To win the pageant and become our queen,
If you will it, then it is no dream!”
CHORUS
The king saw her beauty
And thought it right,
That they be wed that very same night.
She was kind and true, and brave and smart,
No one could have a bigger heart.
CHORUS
The kings advisor was a very cruel “dude”,
He had a plan to get rid of all the Jews.
His name was Haman,
And he wore a pointed hat.....
That’s the reason hamantaschen
Look like that!
CHORUS
When Esther learned of Haman’s plot,
She knew this was something
That she had to stop.
She said to the king,
Who was just a little clueless,
“Did I forget to mention I was Jewish?!”
CHOURS
The wasy the story ends or so they say
They got rid of Haman the very next day.
The lesson we learn from this holiday of joy,
There’s a hero inside each girl and boy.
CHORUS

15. T’FILAT HADERECH
(Debbie Friedman)
May we be blessed as we go on our way,
May we be guided in peace,
May we be blessed with health and joy,
May this be our blessing, amein.
CHORUS:
Amein, amein, may this be our blessing,
Amein (2X)
May be sheltered by the wings of peace,
May we be kept in safety and in love,
May grace and compassion
Find their way to every soul,
May this be our blessing, amein.
CHORUS (2X)
